The conference was founded in 1978 as the Trans America Athletic Conference, before becoming the ASUN (formerly the Atlantic Sun Conference) on July 1, 2020. The ASUN Conference is an NCAA Division I collegiate athletic conference that has ten member institutions located across the southeastern United States.
